Honestly, I haven't enjoyed a lot of Delany's science fiction that I've read (except for _Trouble on Triton_), but his nonfiction is brilliant. The essays in Shorter Views and Longer Views are great, his memoir The Motion of Light and Water is great, and his The Mad Man is p. much my favorite pornographic novel about being a grad student.
