I considered myself well-informed about abuse when I read the book, but I still learned a lot from it esp. wrt the importance of validating the person you're trying to support and not replicating the same behavior her abuser is doing (some people, well-intentionedly, forcefully say "you HAVE to leave him now", etc., and telling her what to do is the same thing her abuser is doing, even if the outcome is supposedly good.) So I recommend it highly.
