It was about tolerating somebody being in your community, more broadly. (Specifically, a few people in the Haskell community -- IRC/mailing lists/twitter/etc. -- who generate a lot of hand-wringing from others but very little "hey, that shit isn't okay.") So, your Facebook friends list might or might not be an example of a community :)
