Yeah, I don't know how to deal with such people. This post would be the best I've got. I know that being super-polite doesn't really help, because they get defensive regardless of the emotional content of your speech.

The only thing I can think of is this article from The Sun magazine -- the audience really is white people who think they're progressive, and it spells things out pretty simply.
