jamethiel: A woman wails as her mascara runs (Crying)

Thank you. As a woman in tech, I hadn't thought about it framed in the dynamics of abuse before, but it absolutely does make sense.

What absolutely makes me have to take several deep breaths and speak very carefully so I don't yell with rage is just the way this has "emboldened" these insecure misogynists. By them framing "PC culture" as the culprit and rather their own inadequacy and sense of being threatened it suddenly legitimises them saying that I (as a woman in tech) am lesser than them and therefore shouldn't be paid the same or even given a job as there are More Worthy Dudes than me. And framing dissent as "group think" or "discrimination against conservatives."

At the moment we've got the gay marriage debate happening again in Australia (they want to hold a plebiscite, which will encourage hate groups, but won't commit to the results being binding.) It is so, so discouraging and awful to have to be forced to justify your existence or your right to have rights again and again and again.

I'm so tired.
