I think, also, that's it's partly about believing that a woman's role is to be a mother. Abortion is a rejection of rightful role. (That's not really true, of course, since many women getting abortions are already mothers.)

The very "problem" with birth control (and abortions) is that they let women (even married ones) choose to do something other than wipe noses for their child-bearing years.
