One of my earliest memories is falling over at the Chatanika gold dredge, and then not being able to get back up because I had too many pretty rocks in my front pocket. My four-year-old angst was epic.

I don't think I've been to any Kingston; I've been to the original Waterloo (and the station)... but not any Waterloos that might be in America.

There is a Waterloo in Iowa, but the Waterloo in Ontario, Canada is better-known (and I would guess it's the one meant in the song, since it mentions other cities in Canada!)

I almost missed it! Then I spotted it and had these very geographical memories of various childhood bits. Mostly we drove through, but there are various features of historical and tourist interest. Plus a very empty field which was perfect for shooting off model rockets with the visiting professor from Sweden and her family.

I feel pretty sure I must've been to Fargo at some point, but I don't remember for sure, so I didn't check it. Also, I checked Little Rock, but my sole not-in-car moment there was to ask directions at a truck stop, because it was 2002. And, come to think of it, I'm not even sure anymore if that was Little Rock. (I was driving from Austin to Chicago.)

It's possible that we should have met before I moved away from Wisconsin forever. (Though I do still visit.)

My mom's parents lived in Baraboo when I was growing up, and Fond du Lac is sort of right there in the middle of the state-- I don't think I've done much there, but I sure have taken a lot of breaks in the middle of road trips to eat at Faros.
