The first time I used a men's bathroom because it was the right space for me, rather than because there was too much of a line for the women's room, was in the San Jose airport on January 31, 2007. I had long hair at the time and hadn't done anything much to change my intrinsic appearance (though IIRC I was still dressed up for an interview). No one gave me a second look. That's why I didn't mention bathrooms in the survey answer to the question that mentioned them -- aside from a handful of stories, my experience with them is pretty boring. During the year and a half when I was using men's rooms and still had short(-ish) hair, people made comments 2 or 3 times. It went up when my hair got longer, but then down to zero when I grew a beard.
I think the only particularly funny story was when I was staying at a campground run by a husband-and-wife couple and when I checked in, the wife called me "sir"; when I asked the next day where the bathroom was, the husband directed me to the women's room (the bathrooms were in different places).

Is that interesting enough? :-)
