Yeah, I guess when i think about being rewarded for intelligence (or for performing it), it's mostly in relation to nerdy college and grad students as well as geeks working geeky jobs. I imagine that how things are in K-12 schools -- or in smaller subcultures within them -- varies hugely, and I barely have any experience of my own to cite.
